A metallic memorial plate commemorating the historical event of the "Kapp-Putsch" and its defeat is wall-mounted at the respective historical site of the "Galgenberg" ("Gallows Hill") in Halle (Saale), Germany. Over the years, countless layers of graffiti covered up the plaque, making the initial commemoration indecipherable. A replica of the plaque has been created in the form of a fragile and thin layer of plastic, which has been installed to temporarily cover-up the original plaque. That way, on the one hand the thin plastic replica both resembled the visibly thickened layers of graffiti and took part in covering-up the plaque and on the other hand it subverted the effacement by making the plague even more readable than in its original form through its matte surface.
